Berea College took a commanding 3-0 lead during the first inning during Tuesday's contest but senior Chase Martin (Georgetown, Ky) proceeded to neutralize the Mountaineers offensive attack for the remainder of the game. Martin completed eight full frames while allowing no earned runs and striking out eight Berea batters.
Asbury's offensive production continued Tuesday night with three Eagles hitters collected two hits. Senior Alejandro Jivanjee had one of his biggest offensive days of the season collecting two hits and two runs. Riley Baumbick also collected two hits while driving in one RBI of his own. The biggest offensive moment of the game came during the bottom of the fifth inning when Blake Lambdin smashed a two-run home run to give the Eagles a 6-4 lead heading into the latter half of the contest. The home run was Lambdin's first of the season and brought his season RBI total to eight.
The Eagles will be back in action Friday at Indiana University-Southeast.
