WILMORE, Ky. -- Asbury University got back into winning form Saturday splitting two games with the Cougars of IU-Kokomo.
In the game one, the Eagles were led to victory from both the offensive and defensive side of the diamond. Junior CJ Compton (Lexington, Ky) collected two hits in the contest and earned his seventh RBI of the season.
Paul Haupt (Louisville, Ky) continued his season long offensive production driving in another RBI while Colton Back, Zach Thibault, and Riley Baumbick collected one hit a piece.
From the mound, the Eagle's bullpen was working on all cylinders. Bryce Barber and Jacob Cervantes combined for six strikeouts over five innings work while allowing no earned run in their respective relieve roles.
Game two saw a twist of fate as the Eagle's bats were kept in check by Cougar pitcher Noah Richardson who is considered one of the strongest pitchers in the River States Conference. Richardson collected seven strikeouts and allowed just two walks over seven innings work. Although Gustavo Landin and Joe Williams both collected hits during the contest, it was not enough to build any offensive momentum.
There were again bright spots again out of Asbury's bullpen as Justin Manley and Alec Lush were strong in both of their appearances. The duo combined for three strikeouts and only one earned run in almost five innings of work.
Asbury baseball will return to action again Monday against Brescia University at Cecil Zweifel Field.
