Softball Drops Doubleheader at Union

BARBOURVILLE, Ky. – The Asbury University softball team fell twice on Wednesday afternoon at Union College in non-conference play. The Eagles lost game one 8-0, and game two by a score of 10-2.

Asbury drops to 2-4 on the year.

 

Game one: Union 8, Asbury 0

The Eagles fell behind quickly after giving up two runs in the first and four in the second. AU stranded five runners on the bases in the loss.

 McKenzie Meyer tallied the lone hit for Asbury, who struggled at the plate in the first game.

Deana Phillips and McKenzie Meyer both pitched in the circle for AU and struck out a combined four batters. Meyer tossed a full three innings of work.

 

Game two

AU was much more productive at the plate in game two as the Eagles recorded seven hits as a team.

Paige Hill started things off for Asbury in the top of the first with a double. She would score later on after a sacrifice fly from Sophia Colclasure to make it 1-0 Eagles.

However, AU would not score again until the top half of the fifth and Union scored eight unanswered runs. Joy Marshall scored the second run for Asbury.

Paige Hill finished the second game with a 2-3 performance at the plate with a double and run scored.

Deana Phillips also posted two hits and ended the game 2-3 from the batters box.

Sophia Colclasure, Caitlyn Taylor, and Taylor Johnson each recorded one hit apiece in the loss. Colclasure finished with a team-high two RBI.

Ally Moore got the start in the circle and pitched 3.2 innings of work. Paige Hill tossed the remainder of the contest.

Asbury is back in play on the road for the third time this week in Madisonville, Tenn. at Hiwassee College. First pitch is set for 1 PM.
