PITTSBURGH, Pa. -- The Asbury University women's basketball team picked up a road victory on Saturday afternoon at Carlow, as the Eagles soared to a 77-68 win.
AU improves to 7-16 on the season and is 3-9 in conference play.
The Eagles got off to a solid start in the opening half and led 20-15 after the first period. In the second, a 7-0 run pushed Asbury's lead out to 13 points at 30-17.
Asbury was able to knock down shots down low on the block and across the perimeter as they led by 12 at halftime at 39-27.
AU led 45-30 midway through the third quarter, but a 12-0 run from the Celtics reduced the lead down to five at 45-42.
The Eagles would increase the lead back to seven at 51-44 to end the quarter. Asbury got its momentum back with a 13-5 run to begin the fourth quarter and quickly put the game and lead out of reach.
Asbury shot 37 percent from the field and 78 percent from the free throw line. The Eagles also out-rebounded Carlow on the glass 47-36.
Three Eagles scored in double figures to lead the way offensively.
Autumn Herriford recorded a double-double of 19 points and 10 rebounds to pace AU on both ends of the floor throughout the afternoon. Herriford also dished out five assists.
Amie Conley scored a career-high 16 points on 7-11 shooting from the field. Additionally, Conley tabbed three blocks.
Kelsey Johnson collected 16 points, four rebounds, and two assists.
Sarah Dennison finished with seven points, 10 rebounds, and six assists, while Ashlee Rose added nine points and five rebounds.
Asbury is back at home on Tuesday evening as they play host to RSC opponent Brescia. Tip-off is set for 5:30 PM.
