Eagles Win Third Straight, Cruise Past Midway 92-75

WILMORE, Ky. -- Behind Clif Conley matching his career-high in points with 26 and Trenton Thompson's sixth double-double of  the year on 19 points and 12 rebounds, the Asbury University men's basketball team took care of business on Saturday afternoon at the Luce Center with a 92-75 victory over Midway.

The Eagles win their thrid straight game with the win and improve to 11-7 (5-3, RSC) on the season.

AU opened up the first half on a 10-0 run to gain the early edge and momentum.

Asbury continued to have control of the game and extended their lead out to 29-13 moments later in the half.

The Eagles remained out in front throughout the first half and led Midway 41-28 at the break.

AU increased its lead up to 19 in the second half at 59-40. Despite giving up 47 second half points, Asbury scored at will on the offensive end of the floor and their lead was never in danger.

A 9-2 run later on into the second half gave Asbury a 25 point lead at 69-44, their largest lead of the afternoon.

Conley finished the contest with a game-high 26 points on 9-14 shooting from the field. The senior from Galax, Va. also connected on 6-9 three-point field goal attempts.

Trenton Thompson posted his sixth double-double of the year with 19 points and 12 rebounds.

Siah Holifield collected 11 points and nine rebounds.

Clarien Washington finished with nine points and team-high five assists.

Deion Cochran and Eric Powell each tabbed nine points apiece. Additionally, Cochran dished out four assists.

Dave McCorvey added six points.

The Eagles shot just under 50 percent from three-point range on 12-25 shooting.

AU shot 87 percent from the free throw line in the victory.

Asbury also out-rebounded Midway 46-31.

The Eagles are back in action at Rio Grande on Tuesday.
