Eagles Collect Conference Road Win; Hold Off Alice Lloyd, 87-80

PIPPA PASSES, Ky. -- The Asbury University men's basketball team finished strong on the road at Alice Lloyd Thursday evening, as they produced their 10th win of the season and fourth conference victory with an 87-80 win.

The Eagles are 10-7 overall on the year and are 4-3 in River States Conference (RSC) play.

After a strong start and hot shooting first half, AU was in command with a 53-41 advantage heading into halftime.

In the second half, Asbury was in control until Alice Lloyd began to light it up from behind the arc. ALC made three consecutive three's and sliced AU's deficit down to seven at 64-57 with under 14 minutes to go.

Alice Lloyd was able to cut the lead down to just two points moments later at 68-66 with nine minutes remaining.

With 4:32 to play, the contest was tied at 76 and then ALC knocked down a three-point field goal to take a 79-76 edge with 3:15 left.

Asbury would regroup and would finish the final three minutes strong. The Eagles ended the game on an 11-1 run to seal the deal and record their second straight victory.

Clif Conley led AU in scoring on the night with 18 points. Conley also knocked down four three-pointers and collected five rebounds.

Eric Powell finished with 15 points, four rebounds, and two assists. Powell has scored in double figures in five out of last seven games.

Trenton Thompson and Drew Delatte each recorded 12 points and seven rebounds apiece.

For Delatte, tonight matched a career-high in points and rebounds.

Deion Cochran added 10 points and seven rebounds.

Clarien Washington and Siah Holifield each scored seven points. Washington also dished out a team-high three assists.

Asbury is back in action on Saturday afternoon at the Luce Center against Midway at 3:00 PM.
