PIPPA PASSES, Ky. -- The Asbury University women's basketball team struggled on the road in conference action on Thursday evening at Alice Lloyd after falling 96-73.
Asbury drops to 4-13 on the season and 1-6 in RSC play this season.
AU was out-scored in three of the four quarters on Thursday. The Eagles trailed 21-13 after the opening period.
Asbury's defense was unable to slow down ALC in the second quarter as well as AU was out-scored again 25-17.
Alice Lloyd led 46-30 at halftime. AU shot 25 percent from the floor in the second half.
ALC shot nearly 50 percent from the field throughout the entire contest and increased their lead on AU in the third period.
AU trailed by 23 points heading into the final frame. The Eagles were able to shoot the ball much better in the second half overall, shooting 41 percent from the field.
The Eagles also shot 92 percent from the free throw line on 12-13 shooting.
Autumn Herriford and Kelsey Johnson each tabbed 18 points apiece to lead the way for Asbury in the scoring column.
Herriford also recorded four rebounds and three steals, while Johnson accumulated five rebounds.
Sarah King added 12 points and dished out three assists.
Abigail Jeffery scored a season-high 10 points.
Ashlee Rose finished with six points and eight rebounds, while Sarah Dennison collected seven points and five boards.
LaTaya Winn dished out a team-high five assists.
The Eagles are back in action on Saturday at the Luce against Midway at 1:00 PM.
