WILMORE – Asbury's women's soccer team scored twice in the second half to break a 2-2 tie to pick up a 4-2 victory over Cincinnati Chrisitan Saturday.
"I'm really proud of the way we came out the second half after a really sloppy last 20 minutes of the first half," AU head coach Brooke Lincoln said. "Today wasn't our cleanest game but one of our focus points going into it was playing 90 minutes and we did what we needed to get the result we were looking for. Brooke Perkins made some big saves today to keep us in it!"
But CCU scored in the middle stages of the half and again in the last five minutes to knot the score at 2-2.
Mia Wiersema scored on a penalty kick after a foul in the box by CCU to give AU a 3-2 lead in the 49th minute. It was Wiersema's third game-winning goal of the season.
Hubbuch recorded a hat trick with a third goal in the 83rd minute that sealed the victory. Wiersema and Susie Terrazas assisted the goal.
For Hubbuch, the River States Conference leader in goals and points, it was her fourth multi-goal game of the season.
With the win, AU improves to 8-3 and 2-1 against River States Conference opponents. The Eagles will next play at Brescia Thursday and at Midway Saturday.
