CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – Asbury's volleyball team had its winning streak end at four with a 3-0 (25-20, 25-15, 25-23) loss to Campbellsville University Thursday.
The Tigers proved to be tough competition and have started the season by winning their first eight matches.
With the score tied 18-18 in the first set, Campbellsville scored the next five points and seven of the last nine in the set to take a 1-0 lead. The Eagles jumped out to a 12-5 lead in the second set and led the rest of the way to grab a 2-0 advantage.
The third set was similar to the first in that it was tightly contested to the end. With the teams knotted at 20-20, the Tigers scored the next two points and held off the Eagles for the victory.
The Eagles will host an alumni game Saturday at 2 p.m. before playing IU Southeast Sept. 19 in their first River States Conference match of the season.
