WILMORE - Asbury University men's soccer coach Ben Andrews is thrilled to announce two new staff hires for this upcoming fall season. The two new assistants will join Nate Andrews and Garrett Davis on the sidelines this fall. The new positions will look to bolster the coaching staff in its day-to-day duties but also look to enhance recruiting efforts.
Zach Welch joins the Men's Soccer Coaching Staff after a head coaching stint at East Jessamine High School. Originally from Port Orange, Florida, he attended Spruce Creek High and played four years of varsity soccer. A recent graduate from Asbury University in 2013, he started and played all four years he was here. Welch helped the team to a conference championship during his time and a berth to the National Tournament.
"Zach had technically joined the staff back in January. His energy and enthusiasm has made an immediate impact on the program." Andrews said. "Zach is a perfect fit for this staff. He had a lasting impact on the program as a player and will have an even bigger impact on us as a coach."
Upon graduation Welch took the aforementioned local high school coaching opportunity at East Jessamine High School, He took the girls side and to the region semi- finals two out of the three years he was there.
Currently, Welch resides in Wilmore, Kentucky.
Evan Duszynski (2011) is joining the Eagles coaching staff after six years on the LCA Boys staff (five as assistant, one as head coach). His LCA squad finished 11-8-1 and lost in the semifinals of the district tournament. Before his stint at LCA, Duszysnki, a Harrison County product, played for Andrews here at AU and graduated in 2011. "I was estatic when Evan told me he got a job on campus," mentions Coach Andrews. "He's a good coach who has good experience with the local soccer scene. It was a no-brainer to bring him on staff. I'm excited for the potential our program has with him on the sidelines."
Duszynski currently lives in Wilmore with his wife Kensi (2011) and is on staff with the Student Development staff on campus.
