Asbury University women's tennis made it a perfect 3-for-3 in matches last week, cruising through three conference teams over the course of five days. AU picked up wins over Midway (Ky.), IU-East, and Carlow (Pa.) last week to stay unbeaten in River States Conference play.
The Eagles first win of the week came at home in sweeping fashion against Midway. The Eagles had little trouble finishing off their neighbors to the west as they dropped only 13 games through the nine played matches. Alejandra Diaz Mares, Laura Ross, and Emily Ross went unblemished through their singles matches to help AU capture the win.
In the second match of the week on Friday against IU-East things were a little bit closer as AU grabbed a 7-2 win over the Red Wolves on the road. The only losses of the day came at No. 2 doubles and No. 5 singles.
Sarah Beth Alford provided the highlight of the match for Asbury as she turned a 6-1 loss in the first set at No. 3 singles into a 1-6, 6-4, 6-0 win. Emily Ross took her match via 10-7 tiebreaker at No. 6 singles after dropping her first set as well. Conyers and Diaz Mares skated through their singles matches at No. 1 and No. 2 singles fairly easily.
The Eagles capped off their week with a 9-0 win on the road in Pittsburgh against Carlow (Pa.). Emily Ross and Alex LoPrinzi captured a sweep at No. 3 doubles for the 8-0 win and Diaz Mares and Laura Ross went 6-0, 6-0 in their matches for convincing wins.
AU is scheduled to host Union on Tuesday before finishing their regular season on Saturday against Ohio Christian at home.
