LEXINGTON - Ben Campbell helped the Asbury men's golf team to a third place finish on Monday and Tuesday at the Midway Invitational at the University Club of Kentucky in Lexington with his own third place finish individually. Campbell went 79-74 to keep place with Ray Gordon and Kurtis Campbell of Lincoln Memorial, taking the sold possession of third place and placing on the All-Tournament honoree list.
Campbell was just five shots off the lead with his two-day plus-9 finish.
Teammate Jeffrey Reno garnered a top-5 finish for the Eagles as well. Reno stayed in the 70s for both rounds with a 79 on day one and a plus-4, 76 on the second day. He finished the tournament at 11-over and in fifth place.
Marty McCurry rebounded from a tough day one for a jump up the leaderboards into the 13th spot at the end of the tournament. His 84 in round one had him in 23rd after 18 holes but a plus-4, 76 on the second day moved him into the top-15.
Michael Troutman went 82-80 en route to an 18th place finish and Zach Johnson finished in 35th.
Asbury will return to Lassing Point Golf Course in Union, Kentucky for their final tournament of the year at the River States Conference tournament on April 17-18.
