PIKEVILLE, Kentucky – In the first game against the Pikeville Bears, a lone run hit in by Deana Phillips wasn't enough for the Eagles as they lost 5-1.
The run came in the top of the third inning after Asbury was already trailing. Hits from Amara Wylie, Kendall Anderson, Emily Rogers and Sarah Wiggins weren't enough to get the Eagles on the board and back into the game.
Phillips pitched all six innings for the Eagles and struck out one Pikeville batter.
In the second game Asbury came up short again, losing 6-2. Courtney Patton and Sarah Woolums both got runners across the plate for the Eagles, but there wasn't enough to match Pikeville's offense. Phillips led the team in hits with two. Amara Wylie, Alyssa Gaines, and Shauna McKain all got a hit.
Next on the schedule for Asbury are two games at Alice Lloyd College on March 4. Game one will begin at 2 p.m.
